Absolute Faith: Armor Of God

My man, that’s what I’m talking about.  It’s that beautiful moment when someone sees you in your armor from a distance and knows you are part of God’s army.  They see that absolute faith and want to join.  They want to fall in the ranks because they know there is something special about it.  Heads are held high because that faith is assurance of what is hoped for.  That’s awesome man.  Love it.

We have all seen some sort of medieval movie where there is a bloody battle. We see each side wearing their respectable armor, we can recognize the sides by what armor each side wears. We recognize the evil side, and we recognize the good side. In Christianity we see the reference to wearing…

It is evident that man never attains to a true self-knowledge until he has previously contemplated the face of God, and come down after such contemplation to look into himself.

The chief end of man is to glorify God and to enjoy him forever.

While we lament the apparent injustice of pain and suffering, how often do we forget that every good thing in a fallen world is wholly a gift of God’s mercy and grace? We think to question God when bridges fall but not to wonder at his grace that every bridge does not.

In the 1950s and ’60s, rationalism began to erode evangelical scholarship, from academia on down, resulting in a liberal theology that crept into seminaries and churches. As a defensive maneuver, conservatives grabbed hold of the pendulum and swung it all the way over to the right side, wanting to believe they’d got “God” down to a science, his thoughts and ways explainable like mathematics. Romans 11:33 tells us instead that God is incomprehensibly immense, exceedingly expansive, and eternally powerful, and so much so that time and time again our response to many of the things of God ought to be “I don’t know.” Rather than respond to his incalculable God-ness with our slide rules and flowcharts, we would do better to worship him with reverence and awe. How can God see, know, and do all that he does? I don’t know.

To be a Christian in the Biblical sense of the word is to be a disciple of Christ. A disciple means a “learner.” He enrolls in the school of Christ. The disciple, as the name suggests, is called to a disciplined study of the things of God.

// Anonymous Blessings//

Anonymity is probably one of the most selfless and Christ-like actions that someone can take.  I have been given a total of 150 dollars anonymously for this trip.  Just today I received 50 dollars in the mail from someone with no return address and no note but a scripture reference: Matthew 6:25-34

I am just amazed at how people answer the call of the Lord and just the Lord’s timing throughout this whole process.

Thank you to whoever sent those donations.  You are truly a blessing.
